Welcome!

Picture
Citizen Advocacy is grounded in one-to-one, freely given personal relationships between two people. One is a person with a developmental disability who has often been excluded from typical community life, and the other is a person who is living a good, ordinary life here in our community.

Citizen Advocacy Athens-Clarke is a local nonprofit that focuses on making matches to enhance the lives of citizens in our community.

The mission of Citizen Advocacy Athens-Clarke, Inc. (CAAC) is to foster relationships that offer protection and advocacy to people with disabilities who are at risk and socially isolated from the community. CAAC establishes one-to-one personal relationships between these individuals (partners) in Athens, and well-connected citizens (advocates) in Athens who live typical, valued lives and can identify with the partners. CAAC recruits and orients advocates, matches them with partners, and supports the relationships.
